001. named for her mother henrika youya alice chao is the first born daughter of bartemius chao and henrika jörgensdóttir. a chinese pureblood wizard whose family had long made its home in scotland and a pureblood witch born in iceland but raised in orkney by parents on a perpetual research trip.002. coming into the world just as the 1st of september 1956 was coming to an end, alice’s arrival was quickly followed by that of a twin brother who would be named after their father.003. the first few years of the young twins' life had been fairly normal, their parents being a couple who had met after school through snr’s sister, bernadette, who had been friends with henrika in their shared scholarly days. and while the spark didn’t happen till both were working at the ministry, when it did it burned hot. but it also burned fast. married quickly (and with children on the way even quicker) it didn’t take long for hearts to grow distant and eyes to wander.004. with a husband climbing the ministry ladder and family wealth too, henrika soon left her job in the wizengamot administrative services for a post in the daily prophet. the society pages. a woman not used to being idle henrika quickly became close with one of her new colleagues, far too close. it was sheer luck that her third and last child was her husband’s and not her new beauxs.
005. young rikard completed the chao family, a perfectly normal young boy, but as henrika’s dalliances began to come to light it fell to alice to shelter him from the fights. just as many other things would fall to alice.006. to any who knew the pair it soon became obvious that it really would be in the best interest for everyone involved for them to separate. but in a move no one could tell if it had been rooted in spite or in hope of the spark that was, they didn’t and remain together to this day. equal parts deeply in love and soaked in loathing.007. alice has always been her fathers daughter, taking after him in looks far more than she ever resembled her mother, people have been saying it since day one and it’s only become more true with time. she takes her moral compass from the man, and while she wields it with more affection and compassion than he ever could, she is still every inch the daughter of the man who authorised the use of unforgivable curses.008. but she is not all her father, possessing the same shrewd mind as her mother, and the weight of all her emotional baggage. since she was old enough to fix her mother a cup of tea, alice has long been forced into the role of family therapist. late nights spent with a box of tissues and honeyduke’s finest as her mother poured out her heart while exploring the depths of a bottle of ogden’s old. alice knows far more about her parents than she’d ever care to know, offered more advice than any child should have to give to their parents. the chao’s are held together by spit and a prayer… and alice’s refusal to give up.
009. growing up caught in the crossfire of her warring parents there are many oxymoronic things about alice. as equally skilled a dancer as she is a dueller, she’s been educated in both since a very young age. ruthless, she’s finding more and more that she can make decisions many find impossible without blinking, but she’s also a very kind and gentle person. in part through nature, in part through being forced to take up a maternal role in her family, the glue holding the thing together.010. she’s lived her life in the shadow of others, fussing in the background to keep a calm front, she was eleven the first time she told herself she’d never be like them. something she’s kept to heart ever since. but the only way to be sure of that is to be perfect, is to be selfless. is to do everything for someone else011. while alice seems very cool tempered it is actually very easy to get on her nerves, and while minor grievances slide away after long, she can hold a grudge with the best of them. it is rare to see an outburst from her though, only coming when enough piles upon her she can’t help but lash out. in many ways it’s her reset button.012. founder and leader of ‘for the light’ and captain of the hufflepuff duelling team in her hogwart’s days; alice has taken on many roles and juggles them all well. continuing the former as she’s set to enter auror training in august, alice finds her mind frequently on other things. there’s two worlds at stake. her family she knows it, and that of the wixen world. but her new found freedom has her asking questions. asking herself if what she’s doing is what she wants. and alice doesn’t know.

daughter of the man heading up the ministerial response to the war and goddaughter of the man leading them in the field, alice’s alliance has been set in stone from a young age. staunchly against blood purity she went as far as to found ‘for the light’ while at hogwarts, and leapt at the chance to join the order of the phoenix upon graduation. all of this is not to mention the numerous threats on the lives of her and her siblings made by those whose allegiance lies with lord voldemort. but alice is a smart girl, raised in the very nest of vipers she now has set out to fight. she can play nice until its time to start being nasty.
PROFESSIONAL PLANS.
alice is very much someone who feels she has a vocation towards a certain career. but is also someone who feels she is duty bound to something else. whilst it is alice’s dream to teach defence against the dark arts, and that wizengamot seat should’ve been hers; alice feels that becoming an auror. that being active in the fight against the darkness is the only proper thing for her to do.

magpie, corporeal those with the magpie patronus have an impressive mind. although they may not see it, conjurers of the magpie are often very intelligent. perceptive, those with this patronus are often able to understand and process information exceedingly fast. those with this patronus are the most intellectual of all. the downfall of those who conjure this patronus is that they can sometimes be wilful and will not change their mind easily, sometimes this leads to disputes. however, this wilful nature comes from the need to constantly be improving. those with the magpie patronus strive for better.
